Up to Cooktown

After my two weeks of wwoofing, my hosts kindly offered me a lift up to Cooktown. As the road up there is a four wheel drive track only, I gratefully accepted this offer. On the way there, we stopped at a petrol station that had the following sign. Some readers might understand why I took this picture, for the others... just read on...

When I spotted that peewee, I wanted to take a picture of it... and that's when I understood what they ment by rogue... it flew straight at my camera... so the following one is from a bigger distance ;o) I can already predict Fred's photography comments...

So anyway... we continued our way up... along the wonderful Bloomfield track - for good reasons 4wd only, through a number of creeks... and arrived in Cooktown, where my hosts told me they had booked a nice motel room for me - a nice change to the hostel dorm rooms i usually sleep in... Thanks again for that John and Melody. The next day, they continued their way up to Cape York, I stayed in Cooktown a few days. Pictures below.

In the mean time, I've been in Cape Tribulation and Port Douglas as well. Hopefully, I'll be able to update on that as well, before I head off to Alice Springs tomorrow...

Oh, and for the fans of the beard - unbelievable reactions to ten days of not shaving , bad news, it's off in the mean time...

And, yes, I am aware that I'm missing a lot of great festivals down there... especially now the CPEX is playing at Marktrock... (damn, worth considering an early return i reckon...)
